Iscar Releases A Completely New Family Of Slitting Cutters Applying Tang-Grip Technology And The Durability Of Sumo Tec Grades
Iscar currently offers a family of high-performance slitting tools that merge the convenience and security of Tang-Grip clamping with the added strength of the completely new Sumo Tec insert grades.
The concept, already confirmed effective in Tang-Grip parting tools, has now been spread to slitting cutters. In the patented Tang-Grip clamping system, inserts are press-fit into their pockets with a specialized hand tool, and are clutched securely in place without the need without requiring clamps, upper jaws or set screws that can weaken the insert and impede chip flow. The pocket design utilizes cutting forces to retain the insert seated securely in position, eliminating any prospect of insert pull-out. The Tang-Grip clamping system also fosters more accurate slitting cuts plus lengthened pocket and insert lifespan.
Iscar's Sumo Tec insert grades feature a specialized post-coating treatment which greatly increases tool life and reliability.
Introduced in late 2007, the new Sumo Tec treatment flattens the insert's coated surface to dispose of microscopic stress raisers, reduce heat and friction and enhance chip flow. The result is enhanced toughness and opposition to chipping and built-up edge, all leading to longer tool life. The golden-colored side on Sumo Tec inserts facilitates wear detection. Size for size, Tangslit cutters give more teeth than Iscar's SGSF cutters, permitting higher feed rates.
Their greater rigidity leads to straighter, increased accurate cuts and lower vibration even in large-diameter cutters. The revolutionary Tangslit TGSF cutters come in 100 to 160 mm diameters, 3 and 4 mm widths and can accommodate the exact same selection of inserts as Tang-Grip parting tools. Some other sizes will be added.
Available Sumo Tec grades for Tangslit cutters include:
IC808, with a tough submicron substrate below a Sumo Tec TiAlN PVD coating, providing excellent resistance to impact loads and built-up edge. This grade is recommended for slitting heat resistant alloys, austenitic stainless steel, hard alloys & carbon steel.
IC830, presenting extra toughness for heavier parting and grooving including interrupted cuts. It is suitable for every stainless steel & high temperature alloys.
IC908, a hard, fine-grain substrate with excellent chipping resistance, combined with a completely new Sumo Tec TiAlN PVD coating. It is perfect for nodular or gray cast iron.
IC928 and 928A, PVD TiAlN-coated tough grades suitable for stainless steel, high temperature alloys and other alloy steels. These grades are likewise recommended for interrupted cuts and heavy operations.
Every Tangslit and Tang-Grip inserts are attainable in J- or C-type chipformer geometries from Iscar.
Iscar Adds Their Most Recent Innovations To A Extensive Line Of Successful Hole Generating Solutions
Iscar recently released several different drilling innovations to meet their customers needs. These new products are Sumocham Drill, DR-DH and Deep Drills. Drawing off of their experience Iscar has come up with new and innovative ways to increase productivity for the end user.
Some Of Advancements In Carbide Inserts By Iscar
Iscar is introducing a new unique milling system with tangential, clamped, butterfly-shaped LNKX carbide inserts. The butterfly-shaped insert has significant advantages compared to the current flat, square shapes. The new geometry has more cutting edges, positive rake face, reduced cutting forces resulting in higher performance.
Numerous Advancements Have Multiplied Iscar's Families Of Indexable Endmills For Increased Productivity
Helido-Upfeed 04 Two years ago Iscar introduced the extremely efficient H600 indexable endmill line, based on conceptually new Helido-Upfeed double sided inserts with 6 cutting edges. The first insert launched was the H600 WXCU 0806..., which was designed for milling cutters in the diameter range of 50 to 125 mm.
Cutting Edge Tools And Carbide Insert Compositions From Iscar To Better Enhance The Machining Procedure
Iscar is introducing Penta 34 carbide inserts with a new PB chipformer. The PB chipformer features a single cavity with a positive rake, neutral shoulder angle, and a honed edge. It is actually a C-type chipformer with a different frontal edge.
